California Highway Patrol officers received a call around 10:15 p.m. about a crash on southbound Interstate 5 north of County Road 22 involving a Toyota and a BMW. One car with two occupants rear-ended another car with three occupants, and officers believe the rear-end driver walked away from the crash and fell down the Yolo Bypass floodplain. Responding officers found one driver but could not locate the other, prompting a helicopter and Yolo County Sheriff's Office and fire department rescue teams to search. The missing person was found beneath the bypass with major injuries and transported to a nearby hospital; CHP believes the injuries came from the fall and does not suspect alcohol or drugs.
