"Crews on Saturday responded to a report about several people who fell in the water at the mouth of Tomales Bay near Tomales Point in "rough ocean conditions," the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said in a social media post. The call came in at 11:53 a.m. from someone on the shore, Emily Fuller, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, told SFGATE."
"Deputies were able to spot some of the boaters in the water from a helicopter called Henry-1, the sheriff's office said, and began an "extensive search" of the ocean and nearby coastline. Eventually, two people who made it to a remote beach on their own were located. Dramatic video footage posted on Facebook shows crews using a rope rescue to hoist the two people up into the helicopter. When found, they were experiencing cold-water exposure, the sheriff's office said."
"The other three people, including the 6-year-old, were rescued by bystanders who took their boat from Lawson's Landing to save the group after they heard about the boaters in the water. Henry-1, with the help of a Sonoma County Fire District paramedic, brought the 6-year-old to a local hospital, and the California Highway Patrol transported two of the adults to the hospital, the sheriff's office said."
