"Hakeem Jeffries makes a speech in a few days in NYC I cannot allow this terrorist to live,"
"While in the Senate Chamber, Moynihan paged through a notebook on top of a Senator's desk, taking out papers, and taking pictures with his cellphone,"
Christopher Moynihan, 34, of Clinton, was charged Oct. 18 with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony, by New York State Police. He was arraigned in Town of Clinton Court, remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center, and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday. State police worked with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Poughkeepsie and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force on the investigation. Court documents allege Moynihan sent texts saying he planned to "eliminate" House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries at an Economic Club of New York event. Moynihan was among previously convicted Jan. 6 rioters pardoned by President Trump on Jan. 20, 2025, after a February 2023 felony obstruction conviction and 21 months in federal prison. During the Capitol attack Moynihan breached the east-side security perimeter, entered the Senate Chamber, handled a senator's notebook, removed papers, and took cellphone photos.
