Hochul announces new AI-driven materials lab at Brooklyn Navy Yard
"BROOKLYN NAVY YARD - GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL announced on Tuesday, Jan. 27, that Radical AI will establish New York's first fully autonomous materials science laboratory at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a $4 million project expected to create 115 high-paying jobs. The company will renovate space in Building 20 to build an AI-driven research hub capable of running about 100 experiments per day, using robotics and machine learning to accelerate the discovery of new inorganic materials."
"The project is backed by up to $2 million in performance-based tax credits through Empire State Development's Excelsior Jobs Program, according to the governor's press release. State and city officials said the expansion strengthens New York City's growing deep-tech and artificial intelligence sector. Radical AI, founded in 2024, plans to scale its autonomous lab to dramatically shorten materials development timelines, with applications across energy, infrastructure, defense and manufacturing."
