"The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner removed the remains and will determine the cause of death, age and gender of the decedent and whether the person was a victim of homicide or died of natural causes. The investigation remains ongoing and the identification of the deceased is pending proper family notification."
A pedestrian discovered badly decomposing human skeletal remains near the tree line across from the Judge Angelo Graci Triangle on North Conduit Avenue in Ozone Park. The discovery was reported to 911 just before 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, after the person had allegedly attempted to report it the day before at the 75th Precinct and was dismissed. Police from the 106th Precinct arrived, crime scene investigators closed off the area, and traffic backed up due to rubber-necking. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner removed the remains to determine cause of death, age, and gender, and whether death resulted from homicide or natural causes. Identification is pending proper family notification, and the investigation remains ongoing.
