"File photo by Gabriele Holtermann The Nov. 4 general election is in two weeks, and while the much-hyped mayoral election is dominating headlines, there are a number of local races for Brooklynites to be aware of, too. Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso is facing a Republican challenger, and Brooklyn is home to a number of heated City Council races - like the one in District 47, where Republican George Sarantopoulos and Democrat Kayla Santosuosso will face off over Justin Brannan's soon-to-be-vacated seat."
"Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4, and polls will be open that day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. If you are in line at 9 p.m., you can still vote even after the polls officially close! Visit the New York City Board of Elections website to find your poll site, and remember that your poll site this year may be different from previous elections."
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4; polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and voters in line at 9 p.m. may still vote. Early voting runs Oct. 25 through Nov. 2 with varying daily hours. Use the New York City Board of Elections website to find Election Day and early voting poll sites, which may differ. Voters can request early mail and absentee ballots online through Oct. 25, and can apply in person at county BOE offices until Nov. 3. Absentee and early mail ballots must be postmarked or dropped off at the county BOE by Nov. 4 or delivered to an early voting or Election Day polling site. Brooklyn contests include a borough president race and several City Council matchups, notably District 47 between George Sarantopoulos and Kayla Santosuosso for Justin Brannan's seat. Uncontested races may still appear on ballots but are not detailed here.
