Massachusetts awards $7.6M to support digital education and training
"Massachusetts is providing digital training to ensure residents in public and affordable housing are able to fully participate in the digital world. We understand digital skills are essential for participating in today's economy, whether it's applying for jobs, managing health care or staying connected with family. The RANGE program helps residents take on these key priorities with cutting-edge devices and professional hands-on training."
"After making essential upgrades to internet connectivity, MBI is investing in computer labs and devices to expand adoption and meaningful use of the internet. MBI has built strong, long-standing relationships with partners on the ground, who are working around the clock to implement these vital services for residents."
The Healey-Driscoll Administration and Massachusetts Broadband Institute awarded $7,581,940 to 37 housing organizations through the Retrofit Ancillary Grantee (RANGE) program. This initiative complements the Residential Retrofit Program by providing digital skills training, device access, and support services to residents in public and affordable housing. The RANGE program ensures residents can effectively use internet connectivity for employment applications, healthcare management, and family communication. Funded through the U.S. Treasury's Capital Projects Fund via the American Rescue Plan Act, the program supports device distribution, digital literacy education, digital navigation, tenant coordination, and public space improvements.
