"Youth Violence Strike Force officers had received information that a teenager in the vicinity of Community Academy was likely armed, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department. Around 2:10 p.m., the teen left the school and walked toward Glen Road. As he was in the driveway of 21 Glen Road, an officer noticed him adjusting his front waistband "in a manner consistent with carrying a concealed firearm," according to the BPD statement."
"Police reported that after the teenager raised his hoodie, an officer confirmed a semiautomatic handgun was tucked into his waistband. The teen then grabbed his waistband and fled on foot, taking off his backpack as he ran. As he turned onto Washington Street, officers witnessed the 16-year-old discard the weapon under a white SUV stopped at the Glen Road intersection, according to the BPD statement."
"The firearm police allegedly recovered was identified as a Smith & Wesson SD9, loaded with a single nine-millimeter round in the chamber, police said. Authorities also reported finding a high-capacity magazine containing another live round. The teenager continued fleeing by jumping over several jersey barriers before changing course. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter in the vicinity of 3368 Washington St., according to police."
"The 16-year-old will be arraigned in West Roxbury District Juvenile Court on delinquency charges: possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a large-capacity feeding device."
