Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem heavily criticized Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for allegedly spurring violent protests in Los Angeles. During a discussion in the Oval Office with President Trump, Noem expressed her disapproval of Sheinbaum's encouragement of protests. Sheinbaum, however, defended the Mexican community in LA, stating they are crucial to the city's fabric and condemned the violence associated with these protests, claiming it undermines their message. Trump also signaled potential strong force against upcoming protests linked to his military parade planned for Flag Day.
Claudia Sheinbaum came out and encouraged more protests in LA, and I condemn her for that, Noem said.
We do not agree with violent actions as a form of protest, she said.
Burning police cars appears to be more an act of provocation than of resistance.
Trump maintained he would use very big force to stomp whatever protests may be brewing ahead of his June 14 Flag Day military parade.
