"I'd say I'm a good mix. I feel very connected to Croatia through my family. I always spent my holidays there with my family. That's still the case today. Whenever I have the opportunity, I go there. Croatia is home to me, just like Munich. I was born and raised here, have many friends here and now also my own little family."
"That family comes first. And never give up, always keep going. My dad left for work at five o'clock every morning and came back in the afternoon, and in his free time he always drove me everywhere. My mum also had a tough job, but she was always there for me and my sister, even if I was still hungry at ten o'clock in the evening."
"That's right, he was 16 or 17 years old at the time. But he never really told me about it. One thing that's for certain is that he's always been a Bayern fan and often went to the stadium. As a referee, he was able to get tickets, and sometimes he would stand in the cold for hours in front of the Allianz Arena to get one."
Josip Stanišic was born in Munich and feels equally at home in Croatia because of family ties and regular holidays there. He grew up in Perlach near Säbener Straße and enjoyed a happy childhood centered on football, playing for FC Perlach and spending every spare minute on the pitch. His parents emphasized family first and perseverance; his father worked early mornings and drove him to training, and his mother balanced tough work while caring for the family. His father once trialled with Bayern, has been a lifelong Bayern fan and often stood in the cold to get stadium tickets.
