Twenty literary and media artists in Oregon will each receive $25,000 from the Spark Award for Oregon Artists sponsored by the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation. The awards are the second round of a three-year pilot that awarded 20 performing artists in 2024 and will support 20 visual artists next year. Recipients were chosen from 293 applicants by a panel of 24 national and Oregon-based literary and media arts professionals. Panelists evaluated original creative output, midcareer stage, and investment in Oregon audiences. The Foundation was created in 2002 by James Miller to honor Marion and to support arts and education. The Spark Award was created to contribute $1.5 million directly to midcareer artists.
