Tesla's AI5 represents a complete evolution of in-house AI hardware designed to deliver substantially higher performance than the AI4 system used in vehicles and data centers. The chip integrates formerly discrete functions such as GPU and image signal processing directly on-chip, allowing removal of legacy components and enabling a half-reticle design for improved efficiency and power management. Reported performance gains reach up to 40× over AI4 through vertical integration of software and hardware stacks. Early production will be U.S.-based, split between Samsung's Texas facility and TSMC's Arizona plant to accelerate manufacturing ramp.
