Nvidia teams with global telecom leaders for 6G development | Computer Weekly
"Beyond traditional connectivity, 6G wireless networks will become the fabric for physical AI, enabling billions of autonomous machines, vehicles, sensors and robots and significantly increasing demands for security and trust. Yet legacy wireless architectures were not designed to meet these requirements, creating challenges as networks increase in complexity."
"By embedding AI across the radio access network (RAN), edge and core, 6G networks must enable secure integrated sensing and communications, intelligence and decision-making while supporting interoperability, supply chain resilience and faster innovation."
"6G will be AI-native and software-defined, enabling wireless networks to advance at the pace of innovation. 6G networks built on AI-RAN architecture will continuously evolve through software, enabling real-time intelligence and rapid advancement."
Nvidia announced a collaboration with leading telecommunications companies to build next-generation 6G wireless networks at Mobile World Congress 2026. The initiative brings together partners including Booz Allen, BT Group, Cisco, Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, Nokia, SK Telecom, SoftBank, and T-Mobile to create AI-native, software-defined platforms. 6G networks will support billions of autonomous machines, vehicles, sensors, and robots while prioritizing security and trust. Legacy wireless architectures cannot meet these emerging demands, necessitating AI integration across radio access networks, edge, and core infrastructure. The AI-RAN Alliance, of which Nvidia is a founding member, now includes over 130 companies driving networking innovation through software-defined approaches enabling continuous evolution and real-time intelligence.
