Klarna and Google CEOs are vibe coding-a skill that could help you land your next job | Fortune
"Rather than disturbing my poor engineers and product people with what is half good ideas and half bad ideas, now I test it myself, I come say, 'Look, I've actually made this work, this is how it works, what do you think, could we do it this way?'"
"My wife is a bit frustrated with me because like whenever the kids went to bed this summer I was just like 'Cursor. I got to code,'"
Vibe coding uses AI to program through natural language, enabling non-technical workers to prototype ideas quickly. Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski uses tools like Cursor to build prototypes himself in about 20 minutes, testing ideas before involving engineering teams. He previously conveyed ideas to engineers and waited weeks for prototypes that sometimes did not match his vision. Using AI reduces miscommunication and speeds iteration, and he has become obsessed with building small projects. Some developers report that reviewing and fixing AI-generated code adds extra work. An August Fastly survey found 95% of about 800 software engineers spend extra time checking AI-generated code, and engineers say AI handles routine tasks but struggles with complex problems.
