Large, diverse events surface a range of viewpoints and personalities that require effort to engage. Many people feel it is easier to focus inward and attempt career or professional development independently using abundant online resources. Online tools can provide general help, but tailored guidance requires genuine conversation with others to apply practices and experiences to individual circumstances. Generative AI chatbots are increasingly used for advice and companionship, yet they tend to be sycophantic, reinforce existing biases, and are often perceived as human through anthropomorphism.
