"“Suggested Places adds two recommended places to Maps' search screen every time you tap the search bar to perform a search.” “These recommendations are based on two main factors: What's trending nearby Your recent search history”"
"“Suggested Places tend to refresh often—in my experience nearly every time I open the search screen.” “So if you're looking for spots near you, the two recommendations will be based in your local area. But if you're planning a vacation to New York City, and just searched for something there, Apple Maps will offer two NY-based recommendations instead.”"
"“If you're running iOS 26.5 in the US and Canada, your iPhone will alert you about its support for another Apple Maps change: ads.” “However, iOS 26.5 introduces compatibility for the forthcoming rollout. And it notifies users via a new ads popup when Apple Maps is opened.”"
"“Maps may show local ads based on your approximate location, current search terms, or view of the map while you search.” “For your privacy, advertising information is not linked to your Apple Account.”"
iOS 26.5 adds a Suggested Places feature to Apple Maps search. Two recommended places appear on the search screen each time the search bar is tapped. Recommendations are based on what is trending nearby and on recent search history. Suggested Places refresh frequently, often changing nearly every time the search screen is opened. When searching near the user, recommendations reflect the local area, while searches made in another location can lead to recommendations tied to that area. In the US and Canada, iOS 26.5 also adds compatibility for upcoming Apple Maps ads. Opening Maps can show an ads popup describing that local ads may appear based on approximate location, search terms, or map view, and that advertising information is not linked to the Apple Account.
