Warsaw MZA exercises option for further 79 Solaris electric buses, total to reach 158 by 2027 - Sustainable Bus
"The newly ordered vehicles will be produced according to the same technical specification as those included in the initial Solaris MZA order. The buses will be built without a traditional engine tower and will feature a modular drive system architecture, consistent with the configuration already selected by the Warsaw operator. Solaris states that the 12-metre Urbino electric buses for MZA will be equipped with battery packs exceeding 500 kWh, while the articulated 18-metre versions will carry batteries with a capacity above 700 kWh."
"Solaris and Warsaw public transport operator MZA have expanded their last electric bus contract to a total of 158 battery-electric vehicles, with deliveries planned through 2027. Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe has exercised the contract extension option included in the agreement signed with Solaris Bus & Coach in September 2025. The original order covered 79 electric buses and has now been doubled through the addition of an identical batch, Solaris states."
Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe exercised an extension option in a September 2025 contract with Solaris Bus & Coach, doubling the original 79-bus order to 158 vehicles. The expanded agreement includes 50 articulated Urbino 18 electric buses and 29 standard 12-metre Urbino 12 electric buses built to the same technical specification as the initial order. The buses feature no traditional engine tower and use a modular drive system architecture. The Urbino 12 units will carry battery packs exceeding 500 kWh and the Urbino 18 units batteries above 700 kWh. All vehicles will use plug-in charging, with deliveries scheduled in the first half of 2027.
