The Twitter for Android client was 'a demo app that Google had created and gave to us,' said Sara Beykpour, co-founder of Particle and former senior director of product management at Twitter.
Google wanted companies to adopt Android, so they built apps like Twitter for them. Twitter continued to develop the Android app after receiving the initial build from Google.
