It doesn't matter whether you liked the ad or not, whether you find it offensive or not, or whether this was an overreaction to it or not...The reality is that we cannot ignore the context in which it was released, a time of retro nostalgia-meets-AI during which the love affair between creatives and technology has changed its status to "it's complicated".
What happened here wasn't really a terrible advertisement in and of itself. It is the sign of a company whose reputation is sliding enough to invite that kind of interpretation... the problem isn't just the message, but also the messenger.
