Officially listed as Classic Marathon on Steam, the game revives the original title thirty years after its release for new players. Marathon puts you in the shoes of a security officer aboard the titular colony ship as you fight off alien forces.
The arrival of Classic Marathon is thanks in large part to the community of devoted fans it still has. Bungie acknowledges the Marathon community's support and credits Aleph One developers for keeping the game alive.
Bungie plans to release Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity on Steam for free in the future. Their in-house Marathon revival is still in development and experienced a change in leadership and direction towards a hero-based cast.
