Joe Biden's problem may not be that he acts too old, but that he is hopelessly in tune with the present-day far-left iteration of the Democratic Party.
If Biden were an authentic old man, he would denounce certain controversial issues, like the overlap of Easter Sunday with the Transgender Day of Visibility.
Biden's alignment with liberal views makes him an unacceptable choice for conservatives, but if he were more contrarian, he could serve as a bulwark against extreme views.
Being old doesn't automatically confer common sense, but it could help. Cynical, contrary seniors might check the most extreme views of those around them.
