A council spokesperson explained: We are working alongside our partners to liaise with NRS about the cyber attack, and our data protection teams are closely monitoring the situation to establish what data, if any, has been compromised.
The council does not currently have access to the data held by NRS but this will contain personal data such as names, addresses, phone numbers and details of equipment issued.
As a preventative measure, those with equipment should be extra vigilant with any phone calls, emails or visits from people they do not know.
