Swift's The Tortured Poets Department achieved 2.61 million equivalent album units in the U.S. in its debut week, with 1.914 million in traditional album sales and 891.34 million in on-demand streams.
The album broke several records, including the largest streaming week for an album ever, the second-largest week since December 2014, and the largest sales week for an album on vinyl in the modern era.
With The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor Swift became the first artist to reach one billion Spotify streams in the album's first week, beating her own previous record.
The album's release was accompanied by a surprise second part, The Anthology, and a music video for 'Fortnight' featuring Post Malone, Ethan Hawke, and Josh Charles.
