New law will hike age limit for buying cigarettes to 21

Raising the legal age to buy cigarettes aims to reduce smoking rates and addiction with a focus on teenagers aged 15-17 and young adults aged 18-21.

Tobacco 21 policies can lower smoking rates by up to 25% among 15-17-year-olds and up to 15% among 18-20-year-olds, aiming to limit social sources of cigarettes for minors.
