TikTok divest-or-ban legislation could suddenly be fast-tracked in the Senate

The bill extends the timeline for a forced sale of TikTok from six months to nine and gives the president the discretion to extend that timeline another 90 days if there's progress toward a deal.
Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell expressed support for the extended Byte Dance divestment period, viewing it as necessary for a potential buyer to successfully secure a deal.
Cantwell previously aimed for a path that is constitutional and protects civil liberties in regards to the legislation.
