Smile London & Essex moved to a larger location at 40 High Street in Romford after being served notice to move out of its North Street hub, with the new location being three times bigger and incorporating a larger charity shop to increase fundraising.
Chief executive Maria Quaife accused the landlord of not allowing negotiations, leading to the eviction. Smile received immense community support, raising over 40,000 to secure a discounted rate empty premises.
