Godzilla was the original kaiju, and this movie monster has undergone many changes over its 70 years, from the goggle-eyed suit of the original black-and-white classic from 1954 to Hollywood CGI.
Almost since cinema existed it has been populated by monsters (Carl Boese y Paul Wegener's Der Golem from 1920 is often considered the first film with a monster).
