After operating in Gaza during the conflict, surgeon Prof Ghassan Abu-Sitta was denied entry to France due to a Schengen-wide ban by Germany, stopping him from speaking at the French senate.
Abu-Sitta was invited to talk about France's responsibility in applying international law in Gaza. French authorities insisted on sending him back to London on the last flight.
During the war in Gaza, Abu-Sitta witnessed a massacre and the use of white phosphorus munitions, providing evidence to Scotland Yard. He operated in local hospitals during the conflict.
