Should NATO step up role in Russia-Ukraine war? - Harvard Gazette
Briefly

The war is at a really critical moment. Ukraine suffered damage as it waited for Congress to approve a $60.8 billion aid package in late April. Russians have regained territory in Eastern Ukraine, have endured significant casualties, and possess a strong fighting force.
The way to defeat Russia is for Russia to be denied the opportunity to determine Ukraine's future. Even with a $400 million U.S. military aid package to Ukraine, concerns persist regarding the timing of aid delivery and the inadequacy of Ukraine's military mobilization.
The average age of Ukraine's fighting force is 43, significantly older than expected, posing challenges in competing with Russia's conscription of younger fighters. This disparity potentially weakens Ukraine's ability to sustain its defense efforts against Russia.
