AJ Smith-Shawver's excellent pitching led Gwinnett Stripers to a 5-0 victory over Durham Bulls in game one by tossing five scoreless innings.
Smith-Shawver's dominance was complemented by strong offensive plays, including an RBI single by David Fletcher and a sacrifice fly by Phillip Evans.
In contrast, Gwinnett Stripers lost 2-6 to Durham Bulls in game two with Ray Kerr struggling on the mound, giving up four runs in three innings.
Despite the loss in game two, Alejo Lopez's solo homer finally broke through Gwinnett Stripers' stagnant offense in the bottom of the fourth.
