What have the Ravens done with their comp picks over time?

In response to a piece that I wrote earlier this afternoon, poster/writer LASkin wondered allowed in the comments:

Comp picks only work if you have a fountain of talent that you are constantly replenishing. Most draft picks, especially comp picks, aren't day 1 starters. They need a year or more of development before they are ready.

Patriots have the capital to be aggressive on Day 2 of the NFL Draft

When the New England Patriots were on the clock at No. 14 overall in the first round of the NFL Draft, they decide to make a trade. The Pittsburgh Steelers offered two picks in return, and down Bill Belichick and company went. The move paid off for them. Not only were they still able to grab cornerback Christian Gonzalez at No. 17 - one of the most talented players in this year's draft and surprise slider - they also added a fourth-round selection as part of that move.

How the Patriots' draft capital compares to the rest of the NFL

Entering the 2023 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots have plenty of room for improvement and several holes on both sides of the ball that need to be addressed.Adding starter-caliber talent at offensive tackle, cornerback, and wide receiver is at the top of the list of to-dos; other position groups would also benefit from reinforcements.

It's a unique position for the Patriots to be looking ahead to the NFL draft in mid-January, but that's precisely where they've found themselves again this year.Similarly to the 2021 draft, where they drafted Mac Jones at 15th overall, they currently possess the 14th pick, the highest selection since 2008.
