PlayStation State Of Play Confirmed for June 2
Sony announced a State of Play Showcase for June 2 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET. The livestream will run for 60 minutes and begin with a new look at Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game, followed by updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from studios worldwide. The showcase will be streamed live on official PlayStation channels on YouTube and Twitch. June will also include multiple major gaming events, including Summer Game Fest on June 5, Day of Devs, and several showcases on June 6. June 7 is reserved for Microsoft’s Xbox Gaming Showcase, featuring Gears of War: E-Day and a deep dive from The Coalition. Sony is reportedly keeping single-player games exclusive to PS5 and has additional exclusives and upcoming releases.
"Sony has announced a new State of Play Showcase for June 2 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET. This will be one of the bigger State of Play livestreams of the year, clocking in at 60 minutes and kicking off with a new look at Insomniac's upcoming Wolverine game alongside "updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals" from other studios across the world. As usual, the showcase can be watched live through the official PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels."
"Alongside State of Play, June is shaping up to be a busy month for gaming showcases. Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest lands on June 5 and will be followed by Day of Devs, while June 6 has a triple-threat of showcases in the form of Wholesome Direct, the Future Games Summer Showcase, and the PC Gaming Show. June 7 appears to be reserved exclusively for Microsoft, as the annual Xbox Gaming Showcase will be held that day."
"While Sony's State of Play has Marvel's Wolverine confirmed as its console-exclusive main event--which launches on September 15--Microsoft's counter-programming will be a fresh look at Gears of War: E-Day, followed by a deep dive into the upcoming game from The Coalition. Sony has also reportedly made a change to how it releases exclusives, as the company is said to be keeping its single-player games exclusive to PS5."
"It does have a few more exclusives which haven't seen the light of day in quite some time, like Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and FairGame$, while the Horizon universe is set to expand with the release of Horizon Hunters Gathering. Arc System Works' next fighting game, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls could also make an appearance as its August 6 release date draws nearer, and we wouldn't be too surprised if third-party studios choose to debut a new game during the livestream."
