The series renovates homes to improve daily life for first responders, military veterans, community heroes, and others who put others first. Featured individuals often face extraordinary challenges, and the renovations aim to make life easier. Examples include creating a safe bedroom for a first responder who works overnight and needs daytime sleep, and building a handicap access ramp from a backyard deck to reach areas they have not used in years. After heroes meet with a design team, a construction team has seven days to renovate the space that best serves them. The reveal moment includes bringing the individual or family into the space with eyes covered, recapping the week, and then showing the transformed home for the first time, creating uplifting, inspiring, and emotional impact.
"“Whether it's creating a safe bedroom space when a first responder works overnight on the night shift and they need to sleep during the day. Maybe it's a handicap access ramp from a backyard deck so somebody can get down into their yard where they haven't been in years. All of these things really change their lives.”"
"“After the heroes meet with the design team, the construction team has seven days to renovate the space that will ‘best serve them,’ as Edmonds puts it.”"
"“That moment where I bring the individual or the family into that space, their eyes are covered, and we recap - We had a long week together. We've experienced highs and lows together - and then they see their space for the first time. It's uplifting, inspiring and emotional all at the same time,” he says.”"
"“Home for Good is really uplifting and telling these stories of triumph over tragedy,” he elaborates.”"
