Count Greylock Partners among the venture firms that have recently raised big money to invest in very early stage startups.
The Menlo Park firm recently raised $500 million to invest exclusively in seed-stage deals.Greylock added the new money to a $1.1 billion fund it raised last year, Sarah Guo, one of the firm's partners, told The Information.The firm was already targeting that fund at early-stage investments, albeit not only of the seed variety.
The additional capital will allow Greylock to write large checks at "lean-in valuations," Guo said.

Look for Greylock to make some big seed investments, some potentially as much as $20 million, she said.
