
Luis Castro began vomiting blood at age 11 and was diagnosed with purpura. Doctors told his parents he likely would not survive and later said he could never do physical exercise again. After three years alone, he returned to a football pitch and developed a playing career through Portugal’s lower leagues. He later became a coach and worked around the world, winning trophies in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, and Brazil. In December, his name reached Levante’s president as the club sought a coach for an impossible fight for survival. Levante’s supporters responded with renewed energy, chants, and unity, suggesting the team could still stay up despite tight relegation pressure.
