
"Food insecurity is higher now than it was at the height of the pandemic. People are really hurting," said Tanis Crosby, the executive director of the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank."
"He doesn't always follow court orders, and I'm sure they'll appeal. So while all of that is playing out, we need to be strong here," Wiener said."

Two judges blocked the administration's effort to stop using emergency funds to continue SNAP funding into November, creating legal uncertainty and possible appeals. Even if funding is authorized, SNAP recipients could experience delays and miss benefits for a week. Food insecurity currently exceeds levels seen at the height of the pandemic, increasing demand at food banks and volunteer efforts. A local food bank partnered with DoorDash to expand deliveries and support during November and holiday-related demand. Cutting SNAP benefits would reduce billions in annual economic activity and harm grocery retailers, including small neighborhood stores.
