
CIF state championships for track and field and boys' volleyball are scheduled for this weekend in Clovis and Fresno. Buchanan High School hosts the track championships on Friday and Saturday. Lawrence Kensinger, a City Section record-holder, will compete in the shotput after a 65-11 mark at the City finals that broke a record from 1973. Running events start at 5 p.m. Friday for qualification leading to Saturday finals. Servite athletes will compete in the 4x100 relay and the 100, 200, and 400 races. JJ Harel of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame will attempt to defend his state high jump title after clearing 7-1 at the Southern Section finals. Fresno City College hosts the boys' volleyball championships on Saturday, with tickets available only through gofan.co.
