Israel destroyed my university, but not my desire for an education
Briefly

For a year, I have desperately tried to continue my university studies in Gaza to give myself a sense of meaning. I started my bachelor's degree in architectural engineering at the Islamic University of Gaza in 2021. My life seemed all set for the next five years. I was going to study hard, try to pass my exams with good grades, intern at a well-known engineering office, and then apply for a master's degree.
October 7 last year was meant to be an ordinary day where I submitted a university project I had worked hard on. The bombing started, but I was so engrossed in my work that I thought nothing of it, as I was used to the attacks. The next day I learned that my classes had been suspended, and the relentless cycle of grief began upon learning a close friend's life was taken.
As I fled Gaza City for Khan Younis, all hopes of resuming my studies seemed distant. I left behind my laptop, projects, books, and everything related to my university life. In the midst of this chaos and uncertainty, I dreamed of going back to university. Yet every new day brought unforeseen violence, culminating in a mosque's bombing that forced us to seek shelter in Al-Aqsa University.
