Knicks making the Heat's pursuit of Giannis look even smarter

The Eastern Conference is portrayed as highly competitive and open, with parity allowing multiple teams to reach the conference finals. The Miami Heat are positioned to contend if they can acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, especially if Giannis and Bam Adebayo are healthy. The move would depend on what Miami must give up and how it would build around Giannis afterward. Even after acquiring Giannis, Miami would still have its non-taxpayers’ mid-level exception available in free agency, which could help strengthen the roster around a new star tandem. With the Knicks’ deep playoff run as evidence, the Heat could potentially leap back into the top tier with the right offseason moves.
