Joseph Woll was activated from a conditioning stint and could make his season debut Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks. Woll went 0-1-1 with a .885 save percentage and a 3.72 goals-against average in one and a half conditioning games. Woll took a leave of absence on September 23 and was away from the team for over a month before resuming practices. Woll expressed gratitude for teammate and media support and had requested privacy during his absence. Artur Akhtyamov was assigned to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies after serving as Thursday’s backup. Dennis Hildeby will return to backup duties while Anthony Stolarz remains sidelined with an upper-body injury. Captain Auston Matthews was placed on injured reserve retroactive to November 11 with a lower-body injury sustained after contact involving Nikita Zadorov.
