6-story S.F. housing project serving American Indians to break ground in Mission this fall

The Village, a six-story project near 16th and Mission, will provide transitional housing and additional resources for American Indians and is scheduled to break ground in September. The building at 80 Julian Ave. will be located a few feet from an 80-bed substance recovery and prevention program at 56 Julian Ave. operated by the Friendship House Association of American Indians. The project has raised about 90% of its capital campaign target, with construction expected to take 18 to 20 months. Modifications were made at the request of the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, including increasing group housing units from 21 to 36. The project funding combines city, state, and private dollars. Program space will span six floors, including culinary and tech training, small business mentorship, a behavioral health clinic, and additional transitional housing.
