Viktor Gyokeres, currently with Sporting Lisbon, expressed his desire to play in the Premier League next season, attracting interest from clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal. Despite Gyokeres' former club Coventry City seeing his talent, Sporting has confirmed they have yet to receive formal bids for the striker. The release clause is reportedly close to 90 million, and the president, Frederico Varandas, emphasized that any potential transfer fee discussions would start from a significantly higher figure than previously rumored, confirming the club's position on his value.
"I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for 60m euros plus 10m euros because I never promised that," Varandas said, relayed by BBC.
"To this day Sporting has not had an offer for Gyokeres - neither today nor last season."
"One of the agent's biggest concerns was whether we would demand the termination clause. He wanted to guarantee certain things..."
