Sligo man (42) with 61 previous convictions found drunk by gardai four times in four days
A 42-year-old man with 61 previous convictions was fined after being found intoxicated on four dates in Sligo within four days. Gardaí received reports of a highly intoxicated man approaching women aggressively and observed him with a cut to his left hand, leading to an arrest for his own safety. Gardaí received further reports of intoxication on two additional days and arrested him for his own safety after arriving at the locations. On April 17, he was extremely intoxicated, stumbling and slurring his words, and was arrested again for his own safety. Later that day, reports of a drunken man led to his arrest and transfer to Sligo Garda Station, where he cooperated. His solicitor cited a bad addiction and incomplete treatment, and the court imposed fines in lieu of short sentences.
"On April 14, gardaí received a report of a highly intoxicated man approaching women in an aggressive manner. Upon arrival at O'Connell St, Sligo, gardaí observed Dolan being highly intoxicated and that he had a cut to his left hand. He was arrested for his own safety."
"On April 15, gardaí received numerous reports of an intoxicated man at Teeling St. Upon arrvial, gardaí arrested Dolan for his own safety."
"On April 17, at 12:47am, gardaí observed the defendant being extremely intoxicated, stumbling around and slurring his words. He was arrested for his own safety. Later that day, gardaí received a number of reports of a drunken man on Castle St, Sligo. Upon arrival, gardaí arrested and took Dolan to Sligo Garda Station. The defendant co-operated with gardaí."
"Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor (defending), told Judge Éiteáin Cunningham that his client suffered from a bad addiction. He added that Dolan had been in a course for his addiction but that unfortunately he did not complete it. Judge Cunningham fined Dolan €150 forthwith on two charges, in lieu of five days sentences. She took into consideration all other matters."
