East Glendalough School, established in 1987 and based on Station Road in Wicklow town for nearly 40 years, held a fundraising concert at Mickey Finn's of Redcross. The parents’ association committee invited parents, past pupils, and friends to reconnect during an evening featuring live music, food, and raffle prizes. Jacob Hastie, who attended from 2015 to 2021, performed first, followed by headliner Eoin Murtagh, who attended from 1991 to 1997. Nigel Murtagh, a former teacher, attended and caught up with former students and colleagues. The event drew over 100 attendees, with Leigh Williams providing food and a candlelit atmosphere. A well-supported raffle was held, and attendees reported meeting old friends and enjoying the return to social outings after Covid restrictions.
"East Glendalough School (EGS) was established in 1987 and has been located on Station Road in Wicklow town for close to 40 years. Recently the parents' association committee of EGS invited parents, past pupils and friends of the school to reconnect at an evening of live music, food and raffle prizes."
"Jacob Hastie, who attended East Glendalough from 2015 to 2021, was the first performer to take to the stage, followed by headliner Eoin Murtagh, who attended the from 1991 to 1997. His father Nigel, a former teacher at the school, also attended as he caught-up with former students and work colleagues."
"Caroline Costigan of the parents association said: "It was a great night with a wonderful turnout. It was sold out with over 100 people in attendance. Leigh Williams of Mickey Finn's provided some lovely food, and the fire was lit alongside lots of candlelight to create a lovely atmosphere."
""We were all really pleased with the response. There were former students meeting up for the first time in years, and we also held a well-supported raffle on the night. I was talking to one woman who said she only came because someone bought her a ticket, but she was delighted she came because she had such a great time. She was saying she used to go out a lot before Covid, but not so much so since lockdown restrictions were lifted, so we are all really glad we organised the event.""
