
Summer beach trips near London can be planned using Blue Flag status to find safer swimming waters. Blue Flag awards are granted to beaches that meet high standards for water quality, waste management, climate action, and biodiversity protection. This year’s list includes 188 Blue Flag Awards across the UK and Ireland, with 30 near London. Minnis Bay in north Kent is included and offers family facilities such as a kids’ paddling pool, plus windsurfing and kiteboarding, along with access to the Viking Coastal Trail. Walton-on-the-Naze on the Essex peninsular is also listed, and West Wittering in West Sussex appears with beach huts and nearby salt marshes. Blue Flag beaches are available across several nearby counties for day trips.
