French paedophile ex-surgeon says he preyed on son's friends
Briefly

Joel Le Scouarnec, a 74-year-old surgeon, is facing trial in Vannes for allegedly assaulting or raping 299 patients from 1989 to 2014. The victims included children subjected to abuse while under anesthesia or recovering from surgery. During the trial, a woman revealed Le Scouarnec had sexually assaulted her in the early 1990s, taking advantage of her proximity as a friend of his children. Despite a prior conviction for possessing abusive images in 2005, he continued practicing until his retirement in 2017, when further accusations and evidence of his crimes emerged.
Le Scouarnec, who has claimed not to remember many of the acts with which he has been charged, said he remembered the 'bathroom episode'. 'I'd make the most of (one of my sons) bringing friends (home) to abuse them,' he said.
The woman, who AFP is not naming as she was a child at the time of the alleged crime, told a court in western France of the abuse she suffered in the early 1990s during visits to the Le Scouarnec household.
