Fish & Bird Sousaku Izakaya in Berkeley announced it will close after 6 1/2 years, with the last day of service set for Sunday, June 14. The restaurant will remain open Thursdays through Mondays until that date. Gold Palm in Uptown Oakland will have its last day of service on May 27, citing financial unsustainability. Gold Palm opened in fall 2024 inside the historic Floral Depot building near the Fox Theater. Moonglow, located next to Gold Palm, will remain open and expand hours starting in June, including familiar small bites such as Gold Palm’s masala fries.
