Fish & Bird announces final day, a Cal cafe goes dark, Gold Palm shuttering shy of 2 years, and more closures

A Burger King location in Alameda’s South Shore Plaza shows a temporary closure sign, while Yelp lists it as closed. Fish & Bird, an izakaya in Berkeley, announced its closure with a final service day of Sunday, June 14, and hours running Thursdays through Mondays until then. Gold Palm in Uptown Oakland announced its last day of service as May 27, citing financial unsustainability. Gold Palm opened in fall 2024 inside the historic Floral Depot building near the Fox Theater. The owners plan to offer private bookings and periodic special events, including select Fox shows and OSA concerts at Cloud Park. Moonglow next to Gold Palm will remain open and expand hours starting in June, keeping familiar small bites like masala fries. Yali’s Qualcomm Cafe on the Cal campus has also closed.
