Heat Assistant Chris Quinn to Interview for Bulls Coach Gig
Chris Quinn, a longtime Miami Heat associate head coach, is set to interview with Chicago’s basketball operations leadership for the Bulls’ head coaching vacancy. Quinn has been with Miami since 2014 and is credited with a strong background in player development. With Erik Spoelstra and Quinn as top lieutenants, the Heat reached NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023, including playoff runs as underdogs. Chicago is also seeking permission to interview Lamar Skeeter of the Charlotte Hornets and Ryan Schmidt of the Atlanta Hawks. Quinn’s background includes playing at Notre Dame, joining Miami as an undrafted rookie, coaching at Northwestern, and serving as an assistant and then associate head coach with Miami and its G League affiliate.
"Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports that Spoelstra's longtime Miami Heat associate head coach Chris Quinn will sit down with Chicago EVP of basketball operations Bryson Graham for an interview about the Bulls' new head coaching vacancy."
"Scotto credits Quinn, who's been with Miami since 2014, with having "a strong background in player development." With Spoelstra at the helm and Quinn among his top lieutenants, the Jimmy Butler/Bam Adebayo-era Heat made a pair of NBA Finals in 2020 and '23 - while an underdog in each of their playoff series."
"The Stein Line's Jake Fischer adds that Chicago will also at least seek permission to interview Charlotte Hornets assistant coach Lamar Skeeter and Atlanta Hawks assistant coach Ryan Schmidt."
"Quinn linked up with the Heat as an undrafted rookie in 2006-07. He stayed with the team until its "Heatles" free agency run in 2010, and also enjoyed brief stints with the New Jersey Nets, the San Antonio Spurs, the Thunder's then-NBAGL affiliate the Tulsa 66ers, and the Cleveland Cavaliers through 2013."
