VfB Stuttgart board member for sport Fabian Wohlgemuth expressed pride in the team’s performance despite a 3-0 DFB-Pokal loss to Bayern Munich. He said the result was clear in the final match of a long competition, but Stuttgart did not allow Bayern to outplay them. He praised a very special first half with many scoring chances and clean defending. He said the second half belonged more to Bayern. He suggested the first half may have been too intense because Stuttgart played a lot of man-to-man up front, which required significant energy and made it harder to maintain the pace after halftime.
"It is true that VfB Stuttgart eventually wore down, but it would be unwise to not give the team credit for how hard it played and fought vs. the Bavarians. Even in a loss, it was a very strong performance."
